They are all different and I have respect for everyone's wishes. I was asked if there would be interest, and I replied on behalf of my team and gave the reasons why. That's just my team. Good luck.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Steve Mathiason)Fri, 11 Nov 2005 22:38:39 +0000 Re: GCLA TOURNEYhttps://bgcla59.runboard.com/p7,from=rss#post7https://bgcla59.runboard.com/p7,from=rss#post7Will not have one this year I will be bringing my guys into the B/C family. As for careers I have spent the past 22 years devoted to both playing lacrosse(High School,USCLA and now GCLA) and as a precision machinist, and the past(11 yrs) as a Manufacturing Engineer. I also have a family that I am devoted to, we just set time aside during lacrosse season as we have since my wife and I met 8 years ago. During my 6 years in the Army ( 3 yrs with the Rangers and 3 with the 5th Special Forces Group) I continued playing. I played with the Atlanta Lacrosse Club from 1987-1989 and then the Nashville Lacrosse Club from 1989-1992. So it's not about careers and family. If it was, then we would only spend our time doing only working and being with our wives and children.nondisclosed_email@example.com (LAX TURTLE)Fri, 11 Nov 2005 06:40:40 +0000 Re: GCLA TOURNEYhttps://bgcla59.runboard.com/p6,from=rss#post6https://bgcla59.runboard.com/p6,from=rss#post6For some people 11 regular season games is not a lot. However, knowing my team like I do, the majority of my players have families that make demands upon their time, limiting us to one game per weekend at most. I can speak directly to this. Plus, many of my players are older generally in average age than on other teams. This often means that they may be further along in their careers, causing added work responsibilities and often a great deal of travel. Again, I can speak to this as well. In addition, many of my players coach high school, which often takes them away for many Saturdays and even Sundays if there's tournaments. The partner at my firm can speak directly to this. Knowing my team like I do, we're tapped out with exactly what we do already. I'm not going to argue with 16 years of experience and success. However, that's just speaking for MY team. I don't stand in the way of anyone else wanting to play more. Let me know and I'll schedule more for them. Remember, the GCLA is designed to be a "Big Tent", comprised of many different types of teams. Some might want to play 15-20 games per season, some just 4-6. The GCLA exists for those that need us, and to serve the sport and its teams. And we're here to have fun. Love the enthusiasm. Just let me know what kind of schedule you want for your Crosspoint/FCA team this spring.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Steve Mathiason)Fri, 11 Nov 2005 05:14:20 +0000 Re: GCLA TOURNEYhttps://bgcla59.runboard.com/p5,from=rss#post5https://bgcla59.runboard.com/p5,from=rss#post511 regular season games is not alot! Plus there are only a few teams play or practice during the fall. nondisclosed_email@example.com (LAX TURTLE)Fri, 11 Nov 2005 05:00:49 +0000 Re: GCLA TOURNEYhttps://bgcla59.runboard.com/p4,from=rss#post4https://bgcla59.runboard.com/p4,from=rss#post4Just speaking for my guys, its enough just to get my own club ready for the regular season, and we need every week of practice we can get. I think with all that our guys have on their plate, adding another "big" event would be a bit too much. Eleven regular season games (with 2-3 out of town games) plus the playoffs, that's plenty! And that's after three weekends of practice (6 practices in all). That's just us. Other teams might feel different. When I make out the schedule I'll take into account anybody's requests so if 3 or maybe 4 teams wanted something like that it could be arranged, perhaps. I think one of the reasons my club has been so fortunate during the regular season over the years is because we tend to focus and channel our efforts to a very specific type of schedule at a very specific time of year, and keep everything else to a minimum. Again, that's just us. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Steve Mathiason)Fri, 11 Nov 2005 04:49:51 +0000 GCLA TOURNEYhttps://bgcla59.runboard.com/p3,from=rss#post3https://bgcla59.runboard.com/p3,from=rss#post3WHAT DO YOU THINK OF HAVING A PRE-SEASON TOURNEY?nondisclosed_email@example.com (LAX TURTLE)Mon, 07 Nov 2005 07:35:29 +0000
